India is falling short of nearly 1500 IAS officers says recently released report of data statistics by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
The report further stated out of 6,500 positions available throughout India, only 5,004 IAS officers are currently assigned positions as reported on January 1, 2017.
Giving state-wise details, the report reveals UP tops with 106 vacant seats against 621 allotted seats.
Bihar state has 243 IAS officers in position against 342 authorized positions, West Bengal has 227 IAS officers against 359 authorized positions, Madhya Pradesh has 341 against 439 while
Kerala has 150 officers against 231 authorized positions.
While Tamil Nadu has 289 officers against 376 authorized positions, Rajasthan 243, Jharkhand 144 and Haryana 155 against 313, 215 and 205 authorized positions respectively, TOI reported.
