150-200 CISF guards to man Metro Airport Line

New Delhi, February 04: Ending days of uncertainty, the Home Ministry today formally decided to hand over the security of Delhi Metro’s most sensitive corridor that connects the city with the airport to CISF, paving the way for the opening of the line.

The go-ahead for the central security agency to guard the line was taken at a meeting chaired by Home Secretary G K Pillai, senior CISF officials, the Reliance Infrastructure-led consortium, which will operate the line, and DMRC.

Sources said all the stakeholders had a threadbare discussion on the details of the airport express line and decided to deploy CISF personnel in a few days.

They said around 150 to 200 CISF personnel could be posted along with vehicle-borne Quick Reaction Teams at all six stations of the 23-km corridor.
