Lucknow, July 06: A minor girl, who was kidnapped a few months ago, has now accused Sub-Inspector Nafees Ahmed of Nanpara police station of protecting the culprits. She was kept in illegal detention for one-and-a-half months and was repeatedly raped.
The 15-year-old girl, a resident of Nanpara of Bahraich, has accused the officer in a statement recorded before the magistrate of Bahraich. The police, however, claim that her statement differs from what she had told them initially.
While a statement made before a magistrate is treated as an evidence in court, but one made before the police has no value.
In her statement made before the court a few days ago, the girl alleged that on April 25 while she was returning alone from a fair, she met her neighbours — Rinku and Dileep — who offered her lift on their motorcycle. On the way, they stopped at a place where three other accused — Sanjay Singh, Monu Singh and Jalim Singh — were waiting in the car, said the girl.
They pulled her in the car and took her to a house in Kotwali where they kept her in illegal detention and raped her. She alleged that S-I Ahmed often visited the house. On June 7, they released her on Ahmed’s advice. The following day, the police found her in Dargah Sharif area and sent her for a medical examination.
The police record also stated that on April 25, the victim’s mother had lodged an FIR against one Fazurul stating he had kidnapped his daughter when she had gone alone to the fair. The police arrested Fazurul on May 17 and sent him to jail.
The police claimed that after the girl was found on June 7, she admitted that she had eloped with Fazurul. “I asked the girl where was she after Fazurul was arrested, but she did not give any specific reply,” said Munni Lal, Investigating Officer. “I have come to know about the development in the case and we are sure that the girl did not speak the truth. The investigation is on,” said Lalji Shukla, SP of Bahraich.
Ahmed alleges that the girl had named him “under Fazurul’s influence, who believes I had provoked the victim’s mother to lodge the case”. The other five persons the girl had named had a business dispute with Fazurul, he said.
