Vishakapatnam, May 04: The state government had submitted proposals to the Union Government for opening 15 more marine police stations, which were likely to be sanctioned and 30 more Interceptor boats were to be allotted to these new marine police stations in a phased manner after they become functional, police sources had earlier said.
There also plans to provide Interceptor boats to each marine police station in a phased manner as part of Coastal Security Scheme launched by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, they said. Patrolling with Interceptor boats has already begun at Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam Marine police stations in co-ordination with the Indian Navy and Coast Guard.
