15 injured in Mumbai’s Bandra slum fire

Mumbai, June 18 : At least 15 people were injured and over 200 shanties were destroyed after a fire broke out in a slum adjoining the suburban Bandra railway station here Thursday.

‘About 15 people have suffered burn injuries-of them, two have been admitted to Bhabha hospital in Bandra. Over 200 shaties have been completely gutted in the fire,’ a fire official said.

‘We are yet to ascertain the cause of fire. The situation is under control now,’ he added.

Around 25 fire engines, 16 oil tankers and four ambulances rushed to the spot immediately after the fire broke out early Thursday.

The houses of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ child actors Azharuddin and Rubina, which are in the same area, were unaffected by the fire, their relatives told Times Now.
