MUMBAI: A child trafficking case was filed by the Malad police on a 14-year-old girl’s complaint that she was brought to the city from Delhi by “her husband” who promised to secure her a job, but instead sold her to a woman as househelp for Rs 50,000 last month.
‘The girl has injuries on the head,’ said the cops, who were recording her statement. The victim claimed that the woman, who lived in a Malad highrise on Link Road, assaulted her. When the girl narrated her ordeal to the building guards from Star Securities, they advised her to approach the police.
The girl, who hails from Banaras in UP, alleged that a relative got her out of an orphanage in Delhi and married to a man; she does not remember whether she got married in Mumbai or Delhi. The teenager claimed that her husband would often thrash her.
While Senior inspector Sudhir Mahadik made arrangements for her medical test, Joint commissioner of police Deven Bharti says they will take action against the guilty
