Islamabad, March 29: Pakistan’s security forces suffered heavy casualities Monday night when at least 14 of their soldiers were killed in a militants’ ambush, a media report said.
The incident occurred in the Khyber Agency, a tribal area in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, when the militants attacked security forces in the area of Akakhel.
The soldiers, including a captain and colonel, died when a mortar shell landed near them, Dawn reported.
Security forces had been conducting an operation in the area for past several days and had arrested a number of rebels, sources said.
