In a ghastly road mishap, at least 14 labourers were killed on the spot and another six received serious injuries when a cement laden lorry turned turtle near Bukkamuntalapadu in Nidamanuru mandal in Nalgonda district on Tuesday.
According to police, 12 bodies have been recovered from the accident spot and five of the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. All the victims belonged to Halia village, but the identities of deceased are yet to be ascertained. The mishap took place when the lorry carrying 20 labourers was heading towards Halia from Miryalaguda.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed shock over the mishap and expressed sympathies with the deceased families. He directed the officials to take up rescue operations immediately and provide better treatment to the injured.
