14 killed, 38 hurt in Venezuela bus crash

Venenzuela, October 18: At least 14 people have been killed and 38 others injured after a passenger bus collided with another vehicle in western Venezuela.

The head-on collision of the vehicles occurred in the western state of Barinas due to the bus driver’s ‘reckless’ driving.

“A total of 14 people have been killed and 38 injured as a result of a head-on collision between an intercity coach and a Renault Clio car,” RIA Novosti quoted an unnamed local law enforcement official as saying on Saturday.

There are fears of a rise in fatalities as some of the injured are in “serious condition,” the police authority said.

Rescue efforts are under way as police continue to delve into the root cause of the mishap.
