14 injured in firing in Uttar Pradesh

Pratapgarh :As many as 14 people, including two women, were injured in firing during a marriage ceremony in Medwa village here, police said today.

Some unidentified persons barged into the wedding venue late last night when a ritual was taking place and opened fire, Lalganj Police Station in-charge Santosh Dubey said.

Fourteen people were injured in the incident, he said.

They were rushed to a local hospital from where six people, whose condition was stated to be serious, were referred to the district hospital, the officer said.

On the basis of the complaint filed by the mother of one of the injured, an FIR has been lodged. The matter is being investigated, Dubey said.
