CPI leader in the Assembly Gunda Mallesh on Thursday said the 13th Legislative Assembly has turned as a House of adjournments in the history of the State.
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Gunda Mallesh said on some days, the Assembly was adjourned nearly six to seven times. With the frequent adjournments, the 13th Legislative Assembly attained notoriety as House of adjournments, he regretted.
He claimed that CPI members raised several public issues in 13th Legislative Assembly. He reminded that his party members vociferously sought financial assistance to the farmers, who faced losses due to cyclones, fought for rights of the striking workers of different companies and organizations. He said the CPI also successfully discharged its responsibility on Telangana Statehood in the House. It was happy moment that the Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament today”, he said.
Expressing displeasure over the passage of AP Appropriation (vote-on-account) Bill without debate, the CPI floor leader felt that the action was undemocratic. He also condemned the action of Seemandhra MPs in the Lok Sabha. He demanded that the Seemandhra MPs, who went berserk like street rowdies in the Lok Sabha, should be permanently barred from the House. Besides, they should be barred from contesting in the elections for life, he added. He exuded confidence that the Telangana Bill would be definitely passed in both the Houses of Parliament. (NSS)
