Hyderabad, October 08: 13.8 lakh Indians had the privilege of performing Holy pilgrimage through central Hajj committee during 22 Hajj events over a period of 21 years. As per the details provided by the external affairs ministry a large number of pilgrims had the privilege of performing Hajj during last 21 years.
Hajj pilgrims traveled by sea for the Holy pilgrimage in 1994 for the last time in which 4650 pilgrims arrived by sea for Hajj-e-Baitullah.
Central Hajj committee quota reached to 1.25 lakh for the current year while the number of applicants exceeded the quota. But it was told that due to various reasons many seats would be vacant and less than 1.25 lakh pilgrims would set out for Hajj-e-Baitullah.
A total of 2245 deaths occurred during Hajj from 1997 to 2009 for various reasons.
