Beirut: At least 135 people, including dozens of civilians, were killed in an Islamic State group onslaught on pro-regime forces in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, a monitor has said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 85 civilians were killed yesterday in the assault which also claimed the lives of 50 Syrian soldiers and pro-government militiamen.
Earlier the Britain-based monitor, which relies on a network of sources on the ground, gave a toll of at least 75 regime forces killed in the IS attack but made no mention of any civilian casualties.
