As many as 13 people were injured, some of them critically, when a youth threw acid on a person with whom he had personal enmity at a religious congregation today.
Police said one Prasanta Sahu of Bhatbida village under Sohela police station of Bargarh district threw the acid at Chudamani Bag during the Nam Yagnya while the later was busy in the function.
Those who were standing close to Bag were also injured in the acid attack.
Baragarh Superintendent of Police Kabita Jalan said all the injured persons were taken to the hospital where the condition of four was stated to be critical.
Meanwhile, soon after the incident, the irate villagers set fire to the house of the accused.
Police launched a manhunt to nab the accused, said Sohela police station inspector Sarangadhar Panigrahi. UNI
