Kadapa, April 20: As many as 13 of the 57 nominations filed for the Kadapa Lok Sabha by-election were rejected on various grounds by returning officer and district collector Sasibushan Kumar during scrutiny on Tuesday.
Ten nominations were rejected for having no proposers. The other three were rejected on the grounds that the candidates do not figure in the voter rolls or failed to submit Forms A and B.
The nominations filed by C Jaganmohan Reddy, K Padmarajan, G Veera Reddy, Ch Sudhakar, N Narasimha Reddy, T Ravindra Reddy, P Purushotham Reddy, A Ramakrishna Reddy, G Subba Reddy, N Sivashankar Reddy, Y Mysura Reddy, B Iliyas and A Venkatasubba Reddy were rejected. The nomination of B Venkata Karunakar Reddy, who filed a case against the omission of his name from the voters list, is kept pending, awaiting court’s order.
Meanwhile, Telugu Desam leader and advocate M Venkataswamy Reddy has objected to the affidavit submitted by YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and urged the returning officer to reject Jagan’s nomination as he failed to declare the assets of his father late YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the affidavit.
“As his father’s assets will go to Jagan, he should claim those properties in his affidavit,’’ the advocate said and wanted the returning officer to reject Jagan’s nomination. However, the officer rejected the plea saying that they would only check whether the affidavit was made in the correct format or not. “As there are no contents in the application for rejecting the affidavit, we can not reject it,’’ he explained.
Seven nominations out of 36 filed from the Pulivendula Assembly constituency were rejected by returning officer G Gopal. Lack of proposers’ signatures, ineligible age and failure to submit Forms A and B led to the rejection of nominations.
The nominations of S Jilani Basha and PG Vijayalakshmi were rejected as the candidates did not complete 25 years of age. Among the other nominations rejected were those of R Bhaskar Reddy, C Vijayalakshmi, G Venkataramana, A Venkatanarayana Reddy and R Srinivasulu.
