13 new trains by year-end

Hyderabad, April 23: Thirteen new trains will be introduced in the Hyderabad railway division by the end of this year, Hyderabad divisional railway manager Narotham Das has said.

Addressing the 45th Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting here today, he said there was a proposal to develop Kacheguda and Malkajgiri as major terminal stations to decongest the Secunderabad station.

Giving an account of the passenger amenities provided and the amount spent on it, he refered to the passenger-friendly initiatives such as unreserved ticketing system terminals, automatic ticket vending machines and strengthening of security system at stations.

The members expressed their satisfaction at the improvements at stations and introduction of additional trains.

They asked for introduction of more trains, augmentation of sleeper coaches, halts for Ajanta Express at Umri and Malkajgiri, and increase in MMTS services.

Later, Manohar Reddy was elected Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee member in a secret-ballot election.
