13 killed in Jharkhand train accident

Ranchi: At least 13 people were killed in Jharkhand when a train hit a vehicle at an unmanned crossing, police said on Tuesday.

The accident took place around 9.30 p.m. on Monday when a family was returning from Raharappa temple in Bolero car, the police said.

According to the police, the car’s tyre got trapped in the railway tracks at Ramgarh district crossing.

The onboard people tried to get down but a speedy Howrah-Bhopal train hit their vehicle and carried it for more than 100 metres, said the police.

The vehicle was torn into pieces, and it was stuck in the engine of the train. It was somehow detached with the help of the residents.

The incident took place near Bhurkunda railway station which is around 70 kms from Ranchi.

All the occupants died on the spot, and ther train was stopped for nearly three hours.

The angry residents blocked the track of the crossing.
