Sana: At least 13 people including seven children were killed on Sunday in a large explosion at a warehouse in Sana, Yemen’s rebel-held capital. The explosion wounded more than 100.
As reported by the New York Times, the Saudi-led coalition had targeted the warehouse with an airstrike. However, the coalition denied carrying out any strikes in the area. Houthi rebels seized control of the capital in 2014 and are aligned with Iran. The rebels had reportedly stored weapons at the warehouse.
The health officials on the condition of anonymity disclosed that more than 110 people were wounded in the explosion, which damaged nearby schools.
Tens of thousands of people have been killed and Yemen has been pushed to the Arab world’s poorest country, to the brink of famine due to the conflict between Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis since 2015.
