13 held on charge of vandalising amusement park

Altogether 13 youth were arrested in connection with ransacking of an amusement park in the steel city on Tueaday, a senior police official said.

“We have arrested thirteen youths, mostly teenagers, in connection with the vandalising of the park, DIG (Kolhan)
Arun Kumar Singh said.

One person was arrested with regard to the brick-batting incident near the district headquarters on
August 10, he said.

Nine among the 13 were arrested in connection with yesterday’s incident based on photographs appearing in local
dailies today.

Six persons were injured when a mob ransacked an amusement park and beat up its employees here on Tuesday soon
after two groups clashed outside the park under Bistupur police station.

When a security guard of the park was escorting an injured youth to hospital, he was attacked by a mob on a
rumour that he had beaten up the youth, Sub-Divisional Officer (Dalbhum), Subodh Kumar had said.

Soon the mob entered the park, ransacked its office, smashed furniture and computers and beat up some of its
employees.

Three press photographers taking snaps were also injured in the incident.

The mob also damaged glass panes of several vehicles and attacked passers-by while retreating, police said.

Police had arrested four youths yesterday and a subsequent interrogation led them to nab nine more today.
