New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday said reports about killing of 20 Indians in a Saudi-led alliance in air strikes on fuel smugglers at a Yemeni port are untrue.
“We have seen in media reports about the Indian nationals killed in Yemen. The boats came under aerial bombardment on the afternoon of September 8. The boats were carrying 20 Indian members. 13 are alive and 7 are reportedly missing,” MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
“No information is available regarding the identity of the Indian nationals. Embassy officials are in constant touch with the local authorities and also due to meet the boat owners today after that more information will be available,” Swarup added. (ANI)
