More than 1,200 youths hope to fulfill their dream of marital bliss in a mass wedding festival that will be opened by Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events in May.
Prince Khaled is the honorary chairman of the Charitable Marriage and Family Counseling Society that has decided to organize the event. Judge at the Appeal Court for Makkah Province Sheikh Abdullah Al-Othaim, who is also chairman of the board of directors of the society, said Prince Khaled provides full support to the annual wedding programs of the society, which has so far helped 6,670 youths to find their soul mates.
Al-Othaim added the prince was keen to remove any obstacle in the way of successful implementation of the society’s welfare programs. “The society aims to ease the heavy burden of wedding expenses for bridegrooms and brides, apart from achieving the goal of better solidarity of the society,” said President of the Makkah Appeal Court Sheikh Abdul Mohsen Al-Khayyal, who is also president of the society’s founding committee.
Any poor youth who wants to start a satisfactory married life is welcome to join the society’s programs.
The schemes are designed to train youths to lead a steady and happy family life.
Another goal of the society is to get rid of the social stigma of spinsterhood. It also conducts studies on ending spinsterhood and ways of leading a better married life.
The Saudi Arabian wedding sector is, according to market experts, a multibillion dollar industry growing at 20 percent per annum.
