12 year-old brutally thrashed by cops for theft

Faridabad, May 26: A 12-year-old boy was brutally beaten by police on charges of stealing the earphones of an iPod. The injured boy was admitted in BK Hospital.

Inspector General of Police Faridabad Zone suspended two policemen with immediate effect in this connection. 12-year-old Manoj had accompanied his mother Meera (who goes by one name) to the Sector 8 house Bhagat Singh Nain where she worked as a domestic help.

According to Meera, the Nain couple came to her house, charging Manoj of stealing the earphones. “He confessed to having picked up the earphone and throwing it after it broke while he was playing with other boys,” Meera said.

She added the Nains asked her son to follow them. Around 9pm, two policemen arrived at Meera’s home directing her to accompany them to the police station at Sector 8.

Inspector General of Police Faridabad Zone, S N Vaishisht, ordered an inquiry in the incident, deputing it to DSP NIT area Darshan Lal Malik. DSP Malik found the policemen guilty and recommended their suspension.

The IGP ordered suspension of the cops.
