Mumbai: A 12-year-old boy, Aniket Paghe managed to escape an attack by a full-grown leopard today with scars on his head and left leg. The boy, who is a resident of Morshipada, which is located near the pump house had lost his grandmother in a leopard attack around five years ago.
He was on his way back home at around 4:20 pm, when he was attacked by the leopard, as per the preliminary reports. But he managed to save himself from its clutches and ran back to safety.
This is the second attack in two weeks. Last week, a two-year-old boy was killed by a leopard in Aarey area, close to Goregaon’s Film City. There were other attacks on May 29 and 21, and March 17, reports India Today.
Forest officials have installed cameras around the sites where these incidents took place.
They now feel the same animal was behind all the attacks, and have placed two cages in the Film City area.
“With the camera traps we will be able to detect the movement of the leopard, and we will be able to recognise the animal,” Range Forest Officer Santosh Kank said.
