12% reservation issue: KCR getting ready for conflict with Center

Hyderabad: CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR has decided to resort to conflict with the Center on the issue of 12% reservation for Muslims. In the budget session of the Parliament which is scheduled to start on 5th March, TRS MPs will resort to struggle.

It may be mentioned that for the past 4 years, TRS has been maintaining the policy of supporting Modi Govt. on the basis of the merit of the issues and it was expected that the Central Govt. would reward the State Govt. by releasing liberal grants for its various projects but it did not happen.

The height of it was Mr. KCR visited New Delhi twice and made an attempt to seek an appointment with PM Modi but he was denied on the pretext of PM’s heavy engagements on account of Gujarat Elections.

Mr. KCR had declared on the floor of “India Today Conclave” that he would not hesitate to launch a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

It may be mentioned that the Constitution of India has a provision for enhancing reservations for SCs and STs based on the percentage of their population but no such provision exists in respect of OBCs and other categories including Minorities.

Mr. KCR is pleading the Central Govt. to delegate powers to State Governments for enhancing reservations for BCs, Minorities and other groups.

According to reliable sources, TRS MPs with the support of other opposition members will play a key role in registering their protests on the issues of reservation for STs and Muslims in addition to raising their voice for releasing the funds for important projects.

It may be mentioned that TS Govt. has made a demand to release Rs. 40000 cr. for the completion of State projects. It remains to be seen what kind of strategy the Central Govt. will take in this regard.
