Bankura, July 09: Twelve members of a wedding party were killed this evening when a speeding truck hit their car on National Highway-40 at Barjora in Bankura district of West Bengal. Police said ten people were killed on the spot and two others died on their way to a local hospital.
All occupants of the car, going from nearby Kadasole village, were killed in the accident, police said. Local villagers began the rescue operations and extricated the bodies and the seriously injured persons from the mangled car using gas cutters, police said.
The car was thrown away from the road by the impact of the collision. The truck driver fled the spot, police sources said.
