In view of counseling to be held at the end of current month, for admission into engineering and medicine, apprehension prevails among Minority students with regard to implementation of Muslim reservations. TRS government had promised 12 pc reservations to minorities while at present 4 pc reservations are being implemented which began during Congress rule.
Sending a letter to chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Congress deputy floor leader in legislative council Mohammed Ali Shabbir demanded to immediately convene all party meeting on the issue of Muslim reservations. He maintained that government should clear its stand with regard to implementation of reservations because counseling for professional courses is to begin shortly and apprehension prevails among students regarding whether government would implement continuing 4 pc reservations or not, as the chief minister while replying during the debate in the council had made it clear that 12 pc reservations are not possible during current academic year because it faces legal and constitutional hurdles.
