At least 12 people were killed and over 20 others injured when a bomb exploded outside a mosque in Pakistan”s northwest district of Hangu on Friday afternoon, police said.
Mian Muhammad Saeed, District Police Officer (D.P.O) of Hangu said that the bomb went off when people were coming out of the mosque after saying Friday prayer in Patt Bazar area of Hangu, a main district located in the country”s northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the initial reports, the bomb was detonated by a remote control and explosives were fixed in a motorbike parked outside the mosque, said the D.P.O.
The injured people were shifted to District Hospital Hangu where several of them were in a critical condition.
Police and bomb disposal squad cordoned off the area.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the blast and directed the hospital administration to provide best medical facility to the injured people. (Xinhua-ANI)
