As per the official figures of the police department, 12 kids go missing in Delhi every day, while majority of them are girls. 3171 kids went missing in Delhi during the current year till August 15, while others were found, 985 are still untraceable.
Though the figure is alarming but the police department has a reason to heave a sigh of relief. The figures are marginally less this year compared to the last year, where a total of 5111 children had gone missing and then too missing girls outnumbered boys.
The children, who were traced, cited various reasons for their disappearance, including being misguided by people, maltreatment by parents, pressure of studies, unsound mind, going on own will, elopement and human trafficking.
