Saharanpur: At lease 12 people, including some women, were injured this evening when two groups clashed near Bombay Palace in Nawabganj area here over setting up of makeshift shops.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (City) Mahendra Yadav said that the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
He said that some persons have been taken into custody for questioning and the matter is being investigated.
Representatives from different political parties reached the spot after the clash and pacified the agitated people.
The ASP said that the police and PAC personnel have been deployed and the situation is under control.
