Noida, January 16: Thick fog today led to a pile-up accident of 15 vehicles on the Noida-Greater Expressway that left 12 people injured.
Due to the accident there was a heavy jam for several hours on the Expressway.
The injured have been admitted to various hospitals in Greater Noida.
Superintendent Police (Rural Noida) S K Verma told reporters that due to heavy fog a slow moving dumper was hit from behind by an another dumper. A pick-up truck and three other vehicles then hit the second dumper. After that, another dumper hit these vehicles and this way a total of 15 vehicles were involved in the accident. Mr Verma said 12 people were injured in the accident, three of them seriously. The injured have been admitted to Greater Noida hospitals.
Police reached the accident spot and used cranes to untangled the vehicles. The SP said PCR vans have been deployed to control the traffic.
One of the injured said the fog was so dense that visibility was restricted to only two metres.
Surajpur police station was investigating into the accident.
