Hyderabad, August 29: The left parties on Sunday threatened to launch massive agitation against the State Government if it continues to ignore the problems being faced by the farmers.
Talking to reporters at Basheerbagh crossroads on the occasion of 11th anniversary, CPI national Dy Secretary S Sudhakara Reddy said that the State Government must take measures to ensure that the common man, particularly the farmers, do not face problems. Recalling the 2000 incident in which three people were killed in police firing in the protest against power tariff hike, he said that the then TDP Government tried to suppress the people’s voice. He said the CPI would always oppose anti-people policies of both central and state governments.
CPM State secretary BV Raghavulu said that three persons were martyred in Basheerbagh firing incident and their sacrifice would not go in vain. He said his party would continue its campaign against the ill-designs of World Bank.
Later, hundreds of workers belonging to Left parties took oath saying that they would launch protests whenever governments adopt anti-people policies.
