One would be surprised to know that the market rate of the roadside land in the middle of Madhapur, Hi-Tech city is Rs. 1.5 lakh per sqyd. Given the cost of the land as Rs. 1.5 lakh per sqyd if any institution has 1 acre 15 guntas land in that area the total cost of the land goes up to crores of rupees.
455 year old Masjid Aalamgiri is located at Madhapur, Hi-tech city. The masjid also has 1.15 acres of land under it. However due to inefficiency of State Waqf Board officials and apathy of Muslims, 6640 sqyd have been encroached upon by outsiders. Remaining land is being eyed upon by political elements. Land grabbers, concerned police, waqf board officials and vested interest all had their role in the destruction of the precious land. Leaders of a political party visited the masjid once and offered prayer there to make believe that the masjid has been inhabited while the fact is the masjid is still uninhabited.
Proper commercial utilisation of the remaining land would fetch a whopping revenue. If Special Officer Waqf Board Mr. Shaikh Muhammad Iqbal IPS pays serious attention towards the matter the Waqf Board’s revenue could be multiplied. It must be recalled that AP Waqf Tribunal on September 11, 2006 had directed collector, MRO and others to keep away from the matter and had also permitted to perform prayer in the masjid.
