New Delhi: As many as 1,11,000 cases were resolved in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) held Lok Adalats across the country, an official release said today.
Most of the cases resolved in the Lok Adalats held yesterday were related to criminal compoundable matters among others, the release said.
National Lok Adalats are now being held on every second Saturday for the past few months on specific subject matters in accordance with a calendar drawn for the purpose, it said.
The total value of settlement reached in these Lok Adalats in about 1,11, 000 cases is about Rs 77 crore.
Of these cases finally settled, about 98,000 were pending matters and over 13,000 pre-litigation matters, the release said.
Cases at pre-litigation stage and those pending in courts are taken up for settlement in these National Lok Adalats, which are aimed at reducing pendency, by resolving issues wherever settlements are possible.
