111 including 53 girls participate in Quran memorization contest in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Local Competition for Holy Qur’an Memorization and Interpretation is conducted every year and an award of SR 600,000 is allocated for the successful competitors.

The 18th edition of the competition was inaugurated here on Saturday.

In all 111 young competitors (58 boys and 53 girls) are participating in five different categories: Memorization of the Holy Qur’an fully with knowledge of recitation and interpretation, memorization with knowledge of recitation, memorization of 20 chapters with recitation, memorization of 10 chapters with recitation and memorization of five chapters with recitation.

The objective of the competition is to encourage children to memorize the Holy Qur’an and comprehend its meaning so that they adapt the divine teachings as a way of their life.

The ceremony for awarding prizes to the winners is scheduled for Tuesday for girls and Wednesday for boys.
