110mn Redmi phones sold globally, reports Xiaomi

Beijing: Xiaomi said since the launch of its Redmi smartphone in 2013, it has successfully sold over 100mn Redmi phones globally. Xiaomi VP, Hugo Barra said “Xiaomi has sold 110 million Redmi phones globally since our first Redmi phone launched in Aug 2013. That’s 1.21 units per second in 3 years! Redmi users are majority 22-29 y/o, young and very active mobile Internet/app users—video, social media, tools, games, books, and news.”

Xiaomi VP had earlier announced the company had sold 6 lakh units of Redmi Note 3 within 60 days of sale in India, the biggest record for the company.
