Kochi, May 06: A lawyer and his wife has been booked here for allegedly torturing their 11-year-old domestic help, police said.
The case has been registered against lawyer Imtiyaz, a practising advocate in the High Court, and his wife, Khamarunissa, on a complaint lodged by the girl, they said.
The girl was staying as a domestic help for the past three years at their house at Edathala in Aluva.
In her complaint, the girl alleged the couple had ill-treated and tortured her with a hot iron rod when their baby she was carrying fell from her hand. They even used to bang her head on the wall, she said.
The girl also alleged that Khamarunissa burnt her with a hot iron rod on her chest. Unable to bear the frequent torture, she escaped and sought refuge in the neighbour’s house who informed the police, sources said.
