Peshawar, March 16: Launching a fresh wave of missile attacks, US drone today targeted a remote militant hideout on the Afghan border killing 11 terrorists including some linked to Al-Qaeda.
The missiles rained on Datta Khel village of North Waziristan Agency, known to be stronghold of the fighter of the Haqqani network and Al-Qaeda. This was the fourth attack on the village, in the last one month, where officials have claimed that a brother of Afghan warlord Sirajuddin Haqqani had been killed.
“At least 11 militants, most of them foreigners, were killed when drones fired five missiles,” local officials were quoted as saying by Pakistani TV channels. It was not immediately known if there were any high value targets.
Pakistani officials use the term foreigners to describe Al-Qaeda’s Arab militants.
Drones have been targeting North Waziristan region ever since a Jordanian terrorist blew up a CIA facility in nearby Khost region of Afghanistan.
