11 hour long Tral Encounter Ends, AGH Chief Zakir Musa killed

Srinagar: Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) Chief Zakir Musa was killed after more than eleven hours of the gunfight in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

The operation at Dadsara village of Tral entered into the second day with the killing of Zakir Musa.

A joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation at Dadsara village last evening amid intelligence reports about the presence of Kashmir’s most wanted militant commander Zakir Musa.

A police officer said that Musa turned down an offer to surrender and fired UBGL grenades and opened fire which was retaliated leading to a gunfight.

The officer said that one AK-47 rifle and one Rocket Launcher have been recovered from under the debris of the house where Musa was trapped.

He said that Musa fled from the spot but was killed in a nearby orchard this morning after a fresh but a brief gunfight.

He said that the body was recovered from the orchards close to the house where he was earlier hiding. (GNS)
