Hyderabad, April 07: Eleven persons were killed and 20 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Mahaboobnagar district on Thursday.
In the first incident, nine persons were killed and eight others were injured when a lorry rammed an auto (Tata Magic) at Kotra in Veldanda mandal. The police said the lorry going in the wrong direction and a high speed rammed the auto killing seven passengers on the spot. Two others succumbed to injuries later. The ill-fated auto was proceeding to Amangal from Kalwakurthy. The passengers included five youths who were returning home after writing the B R Ambedkar Open University examination at Kalwakurthy.
The impact of the collision was such that the auto was completely crushed.
The deceased were identified as, G Swapna (20), K Yashoda (30), Swaroopa (28), R Ravi (18), G Govardhan (40), E Naramma (41), Chandranarayana (40) and auto driver, K Tirupathiah (20). The identity of another woman was yet to be established.
In another mishap at Pallem village of Kothakota mandal, two passengers of an RTC bus were killed after the vehicle rammed a stationary lorry. Fifteen others were also injured in the mishap. Two bus passengers, Achari Swamy (68) of Kurnool and P Natraj Sharma (23) of Nalgonda, who were sitting on the front seats, died on the spot.
