About 108 mini sewage treatment plants with a capacity of one-two million litres of water per day (MLD) will be constructed by BWSSB across the City as per the State budget for 2014-15.
As per board officials, these mini tertiary treatment plants will chiefly cater to citizens who buy treated water for construction, watering gardens and other non- drinkable purposes.
He further said, there are plans of letting out treated water into the lake for rejuvenation. As per the State budget for 2014-2015, a detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared for the project.
The DPR has also being planned for construction of 300 MLD capacities of waste water treatment plants in place of existing 180 MLD plant. This new project part of hi-tech recycling unit where there are plans of constructing a recycling plant at Vrushabhavathi Valley, next to the course of Arkavathy River.
The board will also engage in rehabilitation and renovation of 74 km sewer lines with 50 per cent funding from Megacity Revolving Fund of KUIDFC (Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation Limited) and balance 50 percent from BWSSB. The board is also planning to start the project of providing Cauvery water to 110 villages which is part of the BBMP area.
The DPR is yet to prepare for the project and financial support for the project will be taken up from external agencies.
