Hyderabad, November 04: Sri Sri Sri Vijayananda Guru Seva Samithi Charitable Trust is organising a Dharmika Sammelan on the occasion of Mahashivaratri from February 6 to 12, 2010 at Gymkhana Grounds.
“It is predicted that 75 per cent of the earth will be destroyed by 2012 and so we are conducting this maha yagnam,” said T Ramachandra Sai, managing chairman of the trust. The main agenda behind the yagnam is to safeguard the Hindu religion which they feel is being corroded by outside influence. “We Hindus have the responsibility of safeguarding our culture,” he said.
The aim is to commemorate the coming Shivaratri by organising Atirudrayagam with the cooperation of more than hundred vedic scholars and conclude it on the day of Shivaratri (February 12) by erecting a temporary 108 feet high shivalingam.
Efforts are also on to bring this temporary Mahashivalingam to figure in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The trust is also scouting for a 50 acre land where the Shivalingam can be installed permanently, informed Sai.
