Hyderabad, January 10: Get set to welcome Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy and his merry band of supporters to the Capital on Tuesday.
After embarrassing the Congress in Andhra Pradesh by attracting 25 of its MLAs to his 48- hour- long fast for farmers at Vijayawada last month, the former Kadapa MP is set to take his fight with the party high command to its corridors in New Delhi.
Cutting short his “ Odarpu Yatra” in Visakhapatnam district, Jagan returned to Hyderabad on Sunday and left for Delhi in a special train with hundreds of supporters and farmers to undertake one day deeksha ( fast) at the Jantar Mantar on January 11.
The action is to protest the injustice meted out to Andhra in the allocation of the waters of the Krishna by the Justice Brijesh Kumar Tribunal recently, besides highlighting the plight of farmers because of the recent untimely rain.
Sources in Jagan’s camp said at least 20 Congress MLAs and MLCs, besides a couple of MPs and several party leaders from the state, would join him in the one- day fast.
His camp is determined to make the visit a grand success.
It hired a special train for the visit and has made arrangements to feed and accommodate thousands of people in Delhi.
Though Jagan’s camp claims there is no political motive behind the programme, it is evident that the rebel leader, who recently resigned from the Congress, wants national attention for his soon- to- befloated party.
“ It is going to be an unprecedented show in Delhi. At least 10,000 people will assemble at the Jantar Mantar to extend solidarity with Jagan,” loyalist and campaign manager Ambati Rambabu said.
