1000 schools to get digital classes: KTR

Unveiling the IT Report for 215-16, Minister for IT and MAUD K T Rama Rao today claimed that Telangana is “numero uno” in India in “Mee Seva” and promised to transform 500 villages into e-panchayats and begin digital classes in 1000 schools.

At a program here on Wednesday, KTR gave away certificates to three sarpanches for achieving digital literacy and other entrepreneurs for their contribution for IT growth and digital literacy. “Our State of Telangana surpassed national average growth by one per cent in the IT sector by registering Exports pegged at Rs 75,000 crore during 2015-16 as against Rs 67,000 crore during preceding year, the IT Minister said. Besides IT expansion to villages and towns and 4G expansion across the State, our second big aim is to launch digital classes in 1000 schools”, he said.

The IT Minister also said his determination was to encourage hardware sector in a big way through T Verse also open up hotspots in 3000 locations, KTR stated. He said the government offered job-oriented training to 45,000 students through TASK and will be replicated to districts, he said. He also vowed to expand IT companies to small cities and towns besides providing the best “Mee Seva” services at the villages in a big way.

As Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wanted to expand the IT to second category cities and towns, steps have already been taken at this direction, he said, adding that they have announced policies for Animation, Gaming and Entertainment sectors along with IT by taking experts’ advices. He also claimed that Silicon Valley recognized the T Hub whose outpost will be launched there soon. Besides, many world class tech giants like Microsoft, Google and Cisco have got into an agreement with T Hub. IT policy being implemented in 26 departments, he said and added that e-panchayats were started to offer better services at villages. (NSS)
