Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao today declared to construct permanent buildings for village panchayats to strengthen rural governance. Informing the house during budget session on the second day of a debate to thanks giving to Governor Speech, KT Rama Rao stated that they will spend Rs 13 lakh per one building and 1650 buildings will be built for village panchayats. We have already far given permission to construct such buildings for 1000 village panchayats he stated.
The Minister admitted that out of 8770 village panchayats most of them have no better buildings, while 375 villages have no own buildings at all. The MAUD minister maintained that the rural governance will prove handy when they have better infrastructure and facilities. Next year the government will take up construction of the 650 buildings and 621 others with only single room he said. These buildings will accommodate Sarpanch, Panchayat Raj staff, e-panchayat staff separately besides a spacious meeting hall KTR added. (NSS)
