Patna: Adhering to Tantrik’s advice an uncle in Bhagalpur sacrificed a class III student to please God to bless him with a child.
A 10-year-old innocent Kanhaiya Kumar was sacrificed on the night of Diwali by his uncle Shivnandan Ravidas (40) after he was lured from his house at Vinoba Tola under Pirpainti police station area in Bhagalpur district on the pretext of providing him firecrackers on Sunday evening, TOI reports.
The accused slit Kanhaiya’s throat with a sharp edged weapon as a sacrifice after performing the puja in the presence of the tantric, Vilas Mandal.
After sacrificing the kid, the two accused dumped his body in a bamboo orchard on the village outskirts on Monday.
According to reports, the accused and his 34-year-old wife Asha Devi didn’t have any child even after a decade of their marriage.
When
they sought help from a tantric, he suggested them to perform human sacrifice
to appease the Almighty and get blessed with a child.
“Both Shivnandan and Vilas have confessed to the
crime. They have been booked under different Sections, including 302 (murder)
and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), of the IPC. They were
produced before a local court, which remanded them to 14-day judicial custody,”
Bhagalpur SSP Ashish Bharti said on Monday.
The Police have also booked the tantrik under
relevant Sections of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Anti Witchcraft
Act as the deceased belonged to the Scheduled Caste.
Pirpainti SHO Rakesh Kumar reporting on the case
said the victim was lured by his uncle from his house around 6pm on Sunday.
The victim’s mother, Mina Devi, started searching for her missing son but only the next morning, around 7am on Monday, some locals spotted Kanhaiya’s body in the bamboo orchard.
The SHO said: “Mina was living with her three children as her husband Sikandar Ravidas works as a daily wager in Punjab.”
Kanhaiya was the last among the three children of the couple. The police found pieces of pumpkin from the spot, which suggested that the vegetable was used first to perform the puja and then the boy was sacrificed.
