10-Year old boy becomes one-day police commissioner

It was a dream-come-true for a 10-year old boy suffering from cancer to become the Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad City.

Thanks to the initiate taken by Commissioner of Police Mahender Reddy, the boy’s wish to become the chief of the city police became a reality when he assumed charge as the city police chief on Tuesday morning.

The boy, Sadiq, who hails from Peddapalli in Karimnagar district, has been afflicterd with blood cancer and undergoing treatment. It has been his long cherished dream to become the Commissioner of Police one day or other .As his health condition gradually became serious, Sadiq became despair and worried that his dream of becoming the Commissioner of Police would remain unfulfilled.

On coming to about this the Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police Mahender Redy decided to the make Sadiq’s wish come true. Accordingly he invited the boy to his office at Basheerbagh to assume charge as the city police boss. Sadiq attired in full police uniform and watched by many senior officers and media personnel took the salute of the police guard and proceeded to the Commissioner’s chambers and sat in his chair. Thus his long cherished dream of becoming the city police chief, atleast for one day, became a reality.

Speaking to the media on the occasion Mahender Reddy was confident that with the boy’s long-cherished dream to come the Commissioner of Police had fructified at least for the day his health condition might slowly improve with new vigor. I hope Sadiq would soon recover by successfully battling the dreaded cancer and would one day become the Commissioner of Police.
