Syria, January 29: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 10 members of the military died when their convoy was attacked on Sunday.
In a similar incident on Saturday, an armed terrorist group killed at least seven Syrian troops in the countryside near the capital, Damascus.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011.
The Arab League, which had sent a delegation to the country to monitor the situation, suspended the mission earlier this week.
Damascus, which had earlier agreed to extend the mission from January 24 to February 23, expressed regret over the Arab League decision.
Syrian state television announced that the move is aimed at increasing pressure for foreign military intervention in the Arab country.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the Arab League decision, saying the bloc should increase the number of observers rather than halting the mission.
