10 killed in Pakistan violence

Karachi, March 25: At least 10 people have been killed and several others injured in separate incidents of violence in different parts of Pakistan.

Unidentified gunmen killed at least eight people in targeted assasinations in various regions of southern Karachi on Thursday night,

Tension and panic prevailed as Rangers and police officers stepped up their patrols in the conflict-hit areas.

In another incident, at least two security personnel were killed and two others were wounded in a bomb explosion in northeastern Khyber province Friday morning.

Meanwhile, a vehicle of local Levy force was on routine patrol when it hit a roadside remote-control bomb in Mondaki area in Lower Dir town, located near Swat valley, where Pakistani forces have carried out a major offensive to eliminate Taliban militants.

Pakistan’s security forces cordoned off the area and shifted the injured soldiers to the hospital.

Elsewhere, government forces have arrested 2 militants and recovered 145 kg of explosives from them in Akhorwal area of Darra Adam Khel in northwestern Pakistan.

The Taliban has also increased attacks on people and police forces in retaliation for the recent offensive, killing an injuring dozens.

More than 4,000 people have died in bomb attacks across Pakistan since 2007.
