10 injured in DTC-school bus collision

New Delhi: Around 10 persons, including two women, who were passengers in a DTC bus, were injured when it collided with a school bus, returning after dropping children at a private school, at outer Delhi’s Kanjhawla area today.

Three persons, the driver of the DTC bus, identified as Rajvir, its conductor, Sultan Singh, and the driver of the chartered school bus, identified as Mulai Ram, suffered severe injuries, while the others were discharged after a while, said police.

The incident took place around 9.15 AM when the buses coming from the opposite direction on the Kairala-Kahjhawla Road collided. While there were around 30 passengers in the DTC bus, plying on the Uttam Nagar-Bawana route, there were none in the school bus, police said.

One of the carriageways of the road where the accident took place was dug up reportedly due to some water pipeline work in progress. So both the buses coming in opposite directions had to adjust in one carriageway, said police.

It was the driver of the chartered bus who allegedly did not give way to the DTC bus and tried to speed away. He has been booked for rash driving, police said.
