Hyderabad, June 06: State Govt. has started taking steps to develop old city on the model of new city providing basic amenities on a large scale to bridge the gap between the two areas. In addition to this, steps are also being taken to attract international tourists for generating employment opportunities so that peace and communal harmony could be maintained.
Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation of renovation work of Nizamia General Unani Hospital near Charminar. He told that the old city is like heart and Govt. is committed to spend Rs. 600 crore for its development. He also promised that he will visit the old city every 2-3 months.
He said that it is a strange coincidence that be belongs to Chittoor District, but he was born and brought up in Hyderabad. He studied at Nizam College, Osmania University. He told that he has sanctioned Rs. 4 crore for the renovation and for the construction of a new building for the Unani Hospital. Dr. Niyaz Ahmed Khan, President, Nizamia Tibbi college Old Boys’ Association demanded for the construction of a hostel for students.
The Chief Minister immediately instructed the principal secretary, Dept. of Health to take action to fulfill this demand.
During his address, the Chief Minister said that Hyderabad is a 400 year old city where various comities live together. He requested the people to co-operate with the Govt. to develop it in a planned way to attract foreign tourists.
